Anna had been there before and called the camp to let them know we were coming.
I met her and her best friend at the West beach
and to my pleasant surprise, Anna's mother and friend, and another couple joined the adventure,
which made for a fun caravan.
The GPAA Cripple River Camp is about 10 miles ride up the West beach.
We were met just out of Nome by a rider sent to tell us not to come.
It seems the Penny river was quickly getting too deep to cross.
But since we were already dressed for bad weather and started out,
we decided to at least ride out to the river and have a look.
The girls had a blast riding along the surf of the Norten sound.
I could hear them singing even over the sound of the 4 wheeler and wind!
We finally came to the mouth of the Penny river,
but being deep, we had to hunt for a crossing a bit up stream.
Finding the camps flagging helped pick a crossing,
now all we had to do was see how deep it was getting!
