Well now, finally the story you have all been waiting for...

I had just got home from all year out working, while my friends where home riding! Yesterday we went for a ride in the rain.
It was a great day because I was out on my sled with lots of friends making a mess out of the snow.
But that is another story.
I was not surprized to have sean come through my door looking for another ride.
but I guess you have to be an addict to understand the agony of withdrawals.
anyway, today was going to be a short fun run out to big salmon.
And I guess, it was....

It was so good to get back on the water again!
Here is sean crossing our first leg of river to the big salmon. Man now this is the life!

hot dogging
This is not the proper way to cross a river.
But sometimes it happens.
I had been waiting for a life time, it seems, to get back on my sled!
A guy kinda goes mad when he is absent from home and fun for so long.
So you can't blame him for the silly feeling of invincibility, can you?

Or maybe you can.
You have to understand the Big Salmon delta,
It is a large flat bit of realestate where the Big salmon runs into the chilcat.
(Now here is where A guy trys to explain away the fact that he gets stupid at times)
We were picking our way accross what is usualy large streems of water
with banks to steep with ice to cross easily.

But today every streem was froze over completley. the land was flat and very slick.
So my biggest concern changed from crossing, to breaking through thin Ice.
and because the Ice was so very smooth, traction was a difficult thing to find.
(especialy without studds)

Take a look at this picture and tell me what you see,
..... I mean BEYOND the creek and broken sled.
It looks to be just flat, smooth Ice.

I know it is hard to imagin not seeing such a thing, after looking at this photo.
But without thinking to much about it,
I saw it was flat,
So I let my very eager, Arnald Shwarzenegar thumb Take the Throttle.

I had her wound up to about 60 mph when I first got site of the Ice wall.
Between; "OH NO! I CAN'T JUMP OVER THIS ONE."
and;
"This is going to hurt."
was less than a flash of thought.
